Drone Flight Studio

July 19, 2021

Now that students and staff are returning from summer break, we get to explore more of the Tempe campus and meet faculty from across ASU’s 17 distinct colleges and schools! The ASU Drone Studio is one of many destinations within the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering that we’ve been eager to learn more about.

This studio is a premier testbed for drone research and learning. Here, students study everything from integrated communication systems for autonomous vehicles to biomechanics and human motion. This high-tech space is 10,000 square feet with 23-foot ceilings, serving as the hub of collaboration for a variety of academic disciplines that are exploring the use of advanced drone technologies.

ASU has been ranked #1 in the country for innovation for 6 consecutive years. This recognition entails not only leveraging insights from multiple fields in order to develop ground-breaking technology, but also exploring their implications on society and learning how we can deploy these innovations responsibly. Tours like these allow Mirabella at ASU residents to interact with research scientists and witness the state-of-the-art technology they are developing.

There is so much to see and discover on all 4 of ASU’s metropolitan Phoenix campuses. We are just getting started!
